Organizational Effectiveness

How can technology enhance our current organizational processes in order to increase productivity?

I believe that technology could be used in a more widespread fashion within our school district to streamline many procedural issues. Although attendance is not taken using Lettergrade, absence notes are not. Why not have all parent/school communication available online for parents to use? Permission slips, lunch forms, and any other communication of this type could very well be conducted online. Between teachers, communication could be email, as it is today, but we could also communicate through venues such as this blog to enhance communication and teaching ideas. The website for the district could me much more streamlined with important information for parents, students, and teachers. It should be updated daily to accommodate changes within in the district. These are just a few ideas.. I’m sure you all will come up with more!

I agree with Dianne, I think we need one/two really comprehensive products which would allow us to "do it all" web-based. In this day and age, it is more realistic to keep in touch with parents and students via the web. It allows for better and more accurate communication and is more immediate.

I would love to have access to a scanner at school so I could get my millions of papers and worksheets into one organized, confined space. (I'm a mess when it comes to finding papers.) Technology like this would really help my "organizational effectiveness".

Having a website for each class used for planning and organzing materials would be extremely helpful to me and my students, especially when a student is absent. It would be so convenient if I was able to organize my class online so that students could access handouts, assignments etc. from the library or their homes. As I said before though, having the proper training as to how to set something like this up would be necessary.

I agree with everyone. A lot of time and "frustration" could be avoided on paperwork.
